7 common winter health mistakes you make

(Photo:http://www.marieprom.co.uk/plus-size-prom-dresses)Winters can get gloomy, what with shorter days and frosty weather. You may not have noticed, but there are some things that you do only in winters (or maybe stop doing in this weather). We elucidate the complete account of things that you must pledge not to do this winter. Here they are:

Avoiding exercise: With the onset of winters, you have started to avoid leaving the bed in the morning to hit the gym or for your morning jog. This is one of the biggest blunders you commit during winters. It is important to know that any form of workout releases happy hormones and generally keeps you happy and active. Your winters will not be gloomy if you keep your physical activity up.

Staying indoors: This point naturally follows the first. In order to avoid the frigid temperature, people mostly end up spending a lot of their time indoors. Not only should you make the most of the winter sun, ditch the TV and your warm blanket to step outside to catch up with friends or even for a walk.

Oversleeping: The cold weather naturally makes you lethargic and if you actually clock your sleeping hours, you will notice you are sleeping more than you do in summers. Yes, it feels cozy and comfortable to stay tucked in bed but that doesn’t take away from the fact that sleeping too much is detrimental to your overall well being.

Indulging in comfort food: Have you noticed how you let go of your diet rules during winters? The starchy sweets elevate your mood but this indulgence spikes your blood sugar in the body, leaving your body struggling with the stress to handle the excess glucose. It’s advisable to avoid high-calorie carbs and replace them with healthier alternatives. Not to forget nutritious warm soups and stews.

Drinking too much: It’s cold so let’s enjoy a drink to beat the chills! If you are nursing too many drinks on account of the cold weather or for fixing the cough/cold, listen up. According to a recent study conducted by the University of Maryland, drinking alcohol weakens your system. Have alcohol in moderation and don’t forget to maintain regular hygiene.

Long hot showers: Hot water may warm up your body unlike anything but you must know that despite this instant relief, hot water dries and damages your skin. It can leave your skin itchy and scaly. Switch to lukewarm water instead and apply moisturizer while your skin is still semi-damp. This will absorb water from leaving your skin completely, keeping the moisture intact.

Moisturise: Your skin is constantly under attack during winters. It gets dry, scaly and itchy at times. So wash and never forget to moisturize while the skin is still damp.Read more at:http://www.marieprom.co.uk/vintage-prom-dresses
