Summer

(Photo:prom dresses uk cheap)We might cringe seeing another pair of white sneakers on our Insta feed but the athletic flu seems to be in no rush to leave. Anamika Khanna took the sportyroute this season as she incorporated baseball caps and sneakers into her ensembles. For her ready-to-wear line showcased at Amazon Indian FashionWeek (sans her characteristic embellishments), she edited her looks marrying them with athleticism. Anand Bhushan presented delicious tennis dresses with fine leather texturing. At Lakme Fashion Week too, Huemn, Dhruv Kapoor and Theorem presented gym-infused looks — from track pants to souvenir bombers. Internationally, bridal brands like Elie Saab too could not resist the charm of the bombers though the label presented them in its own ornate handwriting.

Fusing two contrasting elements

Designer Anand Bhushan says, “I didn’t see sporty chic as a trend but my aim was to reinterpret it and I kept Tennis the focal point — the early Wimbledon era from the 1940s to mid 70s and made it modern, sexy and hanger-friendly. I have been doing evening dark glamour but this time, I brightened it up with an AB flavour. I made leather climate friendly for summer by making it perforated and fusing it with plastic sheet.”

Sporty luxe is trending

For Shweta Kapur of 431-88, whose latest collection The Misfits was showcased at AIFW, it was a completely new direction for her as a label. “It is sort of a personal study and incorporates the spirit of punk into the silhouette of a sari. The pallus become hoodies, the hint of the sari waist and the back became the tears and slashes that were associated with punk. The stapled bead work was drawn from punk details like safety pins that were used to hold up tattered clothing. Mesh fabric from the era are translated into Mughal jali motifs, laser cut to show a constrained distortion and colours drawing their inspiration from strong colours that were often used in hair dyes for the misfits tresses. ”

Comfort equals luxury

Designer Pranav Misra of Huemn, whose core aesthetic has been sports centric says, “People have begun to equate comfort with luxury. I visualise details which are sporty in nature. I live in the moment and learn from the past and try to unlearn and learn things. One also gets bored with the same aesthetic and need to try out new things.”

Stylist Ami Patel says, “Sporty chic is not fading out at all and it will be interesting to see what it’ll evolve into.”

Stylist Radhika Mehra says, “At Paris Fashion Week, Saint Laurent did camouflage bomber jackets and so did many other labels. Alia Bhatt recently wore a pair of Adidas harem pants. Also, one sees so many bloggers dressing like that. I see sporty chic going strong even next year.”Read more at:http://www.marieprom.co.uk/graduation-dresses

New Southwell boutique sells quirky and classic jewellery

Owner of Last Night I Dreamt, Rebecca Gibbions

(Photo:black prom dresses uk)After years of filling her annual Christmas list with the latest must-have jewellery items, 36-year-old Rebecca Gibbions is putting all of her festive favourites together and sharing them with the public with the launch of her own shop.

The mother-of-two is the owner behind new contemporary jewellery boutique, Last Night I Dreamt, now located in Queen Street, Southwell.

But unlike the traditional jewellery shops dotted across Nottinghamshire, Rebecca’s handpicked jewellery is displayed on objects including antlers and hardback books.

Making the boutique creative and quirky was one of the key elements for Rebecca, who lives in Southwell with her husband, Chris, son Reuben, eight, and daughter Beatrice, five.

The owner says: “I opened about four weeks ago. I’m amazed at how well it’s taken off. People really seem to be responding to the jewellery and the designers I stock. Everyone seems to really love the designs by brands including Alex Monroe and I’ve already almost sold out of the Daisy London collection.

“I’ve tried to pull together some really good designers into one shop so that it can become one of those go-to places where people can get a range of jewellery and brands they’ve heard of.”

The store sells popular jewellery brands as well as independent designers that Rebecca has handpicked for their quality and edgy designs. All are priced around the £200 mark and below.

This includes designer Alex Monroe – famed for his iconic bumblebee pendant that has been spotted on celebrities such as Sienna Miller and Sophie Dahl.

There is also the Daisy London brand – inspired by exotic jewellery from across the world – and Claudia Bradby, who offers a modern twist on the classic pearl.

Rebecca says: “Claudia Bradby is famous for her pearls and is worn by celebrities including Dame Helen Mirren, who wore the duo pearl earrings to an event. Daisy London also boasts celebrity fans in Ellie Goulding and Cara Delevingne.

“And then I’ve got some more quirky designers like Tom Pigeon who works with things like copper and creates quite graphic-looking pieces. He does cufflinks for men too.

“I’ve got a collection for little girls too called Molly Brown of London, which has been dubbed ‘Tiffany for girls’. They have slogans like little fairies and things that can be engraved.

“I’m trying to stock up-and-coming designers and edgy things as well as classic pieces that people will wear forever.”

Rebecca picks all of the jewellery and designers herself, going from a mix of her own love for jewellery and seasonal trends.

This means that there is something for everyone within Last Night I Dreamt – whether you’re looking for an unusual geometric necklace, a bright statement ring or a pair of stud earrings.

“On Saturday I had a 21-year-old who had been given some money for her birthday and she came in and bought the silver bumblebee necklace, but then the week before I had a few ladies in their 30s and 40s buying the bumblebee. I’ve also had older ladies who love the pearls despite them having a more modern twist. It seems that there is something for all ages,” she says.

“I’ve looked at what I like – I’ve not picked anything that I don’t like personally but it’s finding the right balance of having an awareness of your customer base and what they will like but also looking at what you like. I need to be able to talk about something in an excited way to sell it.”

But necklaces, bracelets and earrings weren’t always the shop owner’s forte, who previously enjoyed a long career in the television industry working and travelling across the globe.

“I’ve always loved fashion but my background is in television. I was a freelance producer/director mainly at BBC Manchester but I worked all over the country and filmed all over the world,” she explains.

“I did a programme called Liquid Assets for BBC Three, where we looked at the money celebrities made. I also worked on Panorama.

“The store is a massive career change for me. I spent eight years out of work with the children when I had them, and when my little one started school I had a year of feeling completely lost and not knowing what I was going to do. This shop then became available and a few people said that I could do it with my interest in fashion. I knew I could do it because I’ve always been quite creative.”

And it seems that the Nottinghamshire town of Southwell was the perfect choice to embark on her fashion dreams.

“Southwell is a place where people meet and it’s quite an affluent area. It’s got a lovely high street with a lot of boutiques but it definitely needed a contemporary jewellery shop. People do travel to Southwell on a weekend for its shops and sights.”

She adds: “I’ve always had a thing about accessories. Every Christmas I’ll have spotted something I want. I think it goes back probably to childhood but I’ve always loved keeping up on the latest trends. I don’t want to get jewellery that is out of people’s price range. I want women to find something here that is really classic and beautiful but affordable and stylish.”Read more at:pink prom dresses

Grand idea helps pick bridesmaids

(Photo:mermaid prom dresses uk)If you’ve ever planned a wedding, you know it can be a nightmare.

You’ve got to buy a dress and find a place to hold the reception. You’ve got to find a caterer and a photographer.

Then there are the bridesmaids, a collection of friends who are expected to buy dresses and sometimes travel thousands of miles to take part in the wedding.

It’s sort of a rite of passage. Practically every female has been a bridesmaid at one time or another, especially if you have a large circle of friends.

Sometimes, though, people like to keep it in the family, which is what Alissa McKaig hoped to do for her wedding to Kyle Doehla, set to take place on Halloween.

McKaig, by the way, is a professional runner who has tried out for the U.S. Olympic team and has taken part as an elite athlete in races all over the world.

McKaig’s plan was to use her sisters as bridesmaids. It makes sense. They would most likely be at the wedding anyway, all five.

But there were some complications.

Doehla chose his groomsmen, and he winnowed his list down to eight but couldn’t narrow it down any further.

That left McKaig short three bridesmaids.

Well, McKaig was out running one day and she started thinking. There will be a lot of people at the wedding. Among them will be three grandmothers.

Throughout her life, she says, the grandmothers have stood beside her in everything she has done. They’ve all had a huge influence in her life.

So it didn’t seem right to have them just sit in the front row during the wedding. Why not have them stand with her as bridesmaids?

McKaig acknowledges that she’s never heard of anyone doing anything like this before. Bridesmaids are usually young.

But there’s nothing wrong with having some older bridesmaids.

So come Halloween, when the wedding ceremony takes place, the bridesmaids will include Betty Godschalk, who is 96, Leora Adams, who is 86, and Ruby Clausing, who is 86.

So it will be a special night in many ways, including for Leora Adams. She’s never been a bridesmaid.Read more at:pink prom dresses

Music, fashion and style, all on the ramp

Music, fashion and style, all on the ramp

(Photo:cheap cocktail dresses)A collaboration of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour and Bajirao Mastani celebrated the timeless legacy of good taste where fashion, music and cinema blended together and Deepika Padukone, as Mastani, walked the ramp in an Anju Modi creation.

Bajirao Mastani, produced by Eros International and Bhansali Productions and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will release worldwide on December 18.

B-town glam

The 11th edition of the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour was more than just a platform for fashion, with an array of talented performers and entertainers joining hands. The tour began with the launch of the song Deewani Mastani from the film Bajirao Mastani. Anju Modi, who has also designed costumes for the movie, presented her collection, with Deepika Padukone as the showstopper.

The royal touch

Anju said, “This tour is about fine tastes which collaborate through individuals as their distinctive style and inspirations. A name that epitomizes good taste and a rich legacy, the platform is a perfect fit to present the Bajirao Mastani collection, which has been designed with multiple unique and timeless influences.” Designer duo Abraham and Thakore and Rahul Mishra gave the fashion tour a stylish conclusion while presenting their collections on the second day. Rahul told us, “It’s a matter of pride to be associated with the tour. This is my fall collection, called Village. I have used small elements like the windmill, the sparrow and other things in the collection.”

Everyone has their own style

Anurag Kashyap, who was the ‘style speaker’ on the second day, said, “This tour talks about personal style and unique identity. It’s about how you see yourself. I believe everybody has their own style, which is visible in who you are and what you do. I can’t describe my style in just one word because I am always searching for more.” The music was the high point of the fashion tour. Midival Punditz and Kutle Khan performed for the show on the first day, and Madboy/Mink – Vivaan Shah and Saba Azad – ended the tour on the second day.Read more at:prom dresses uk cheap

Kendall Jenner Glows in All-white Ensemble As She Takes Shanghai Fashion Week

Kendall Jenner Glows in All-white Ensemble As She Takes Shanghai Fashion Week

(Photo:graduation gowns)Kendall Jenner positively glowed as she took to the red staircase at the Ports 1961 presentation in Shanghai, China. The 19-year-old added Shanghai Fashion Week to her list of runway accomplishments on Tuesday.

The reality star donned a long asymmetrical dress over loose pajama pants as she was pulling off a long coat over her shoulders. Kendall was absolutely striking as she put her porcelain complexion on display with her dark hair combed into a neat part.

Also attending the event was another American reality star icon Paris Hilton. She opted to wear a knee high boots and a flouncy Little Black Dress.

Kendall has certainly proved herself over the past months at the global fashion weeks as she struts the catwalks for top designers such as Chanel, Elie Saab, Balmain and Calvin Klein as reported by FOREVERVOGUE. She is also gearing up to promote the brand new Balmain for H&M diffusion collection with best pal Gigi Hadid, the two of them as the face of the line.

The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” beauty landed at London’s Heathrow on Thursday to continue on with her workload following weeks of doing her thing and attending much of events. It’s not new that Kendall recently spoke out about the “exhausting” nature of her job as a model, something she asserted people assume is an easy job.

“I’ve learned that modelling isn’t as easy as everyone thinks. There are a ton of early mornings and late nights-it’s exhausting. And there’s a lot of travelling,” she wrote on her website “I have thought, ‘What if it doesn’t all work out, what else would I do?’ I haven’t figured it out just yet, but that’s okay because I’m still young.”

Meanwhile, her older sister Khloe Kardashian is understood to be rushing to the side of ex-husband Lamar Odom as he fights for his life. Khloe is believed to be joined by mother Kris Jenner and sister Kim after Odom was found unconscious in a Nevada brothel.Read more at:cocktail prom dresses
