Meghan Trainor fronting curvy campaign

 

(Photo:grey prom dresses)Popstar Meghan Trainor is the face of a new plus-size campaign encouraging women to embrace their shape.

The All About That Bass singer is working with company FullBeauty Brands on its new promotion, #OwnYourCurves. She has already shot images which will appear on websites for the rest of the year (15) and was instantly won over when she heard what was being planned.

“They told me what they were doing and how they wanted to make women feel more confident,” she told WWD. “It was the same views I was having so I thought it was the perfect fit.”

The images see Meghan dressed in looks from the company’s labels, including a black dress with sleeves to just past the elbow, mesh panels below the neck and peplum detailing. The shots include the message that women should be proud to ‘Be a Full Beauty’.

“We really wanted to celebrate how we perceive our consumer and demonstrate that we see full beauty as more than a shape and size,” Stephanie Sobel, president of FullBeauty Brands, explained. “It’s a message that we want to send and how we want to empower the consumer to shop on our website.”

On top of this, the company is launching a competition for students at the Fashion Institute of Technology. They will be asked to come up with five flattering and fashionable looks for fuller-figured women, with Meghan among those who will be judging the entries.

The singer has been vocal about helping women accept their shape no matter their dress size since she hit the big time in 2014. For her, one of the big things is to ditch the terms associated with curvy women.

“I like that people are wanting to get rid of the term ‘plus-size’ because it shouldn’t be that,” she insisted. “That’s the genius thing about the name FullBeauty. It’s not just labelling bigger sizes and it doesn’t make you feel bigger or different. It makes you feel confident and sexy.”Read more at:mermaid prom dresses
